We'd already booked our tickets and were ready for our day out - or at least my nephew, Jake was!
If I'm honest I was dreading Legoland, Windsor on a sunny Sunday in June thinking we would have to queue to get off the M4, then have to queue to get into the park itself and then for all the rides but actually it was a breeze. Armed with a picnic and a few toys for the car, we left London for our 40 minute journey at about 9:15am to make sure we got there for the 10am opening.
The park is really well signed from the M4 and the car park was marshalled efficiently to reduce any British queueing rage. Having said that if you were going to go during school holidays, it will probably be busier and you should plan to get there as early as possible as the car park does fill up quite quickly - and the last thing you want is to go through all that preparation and have to turn round and trek home again.
One key thing is to ensure you pick up a park map as soon as you get there! Familiarise yourself with where the toilets, baby care centres and meeting points are to save you making a mad dash around searching, it also helps you to vaguely plan where you want to go in the park. Some of the rides have height restrictions - so be aware of these upfront and you can probably avoid them if you need to!
My 3 year old nephew was soon in Lego heaven dashing from diggers that he was able to control to taking his driving licence. He was thoroughly entertained as were we, just watching! Legoland is perfect for all children of 3 years and over. Miniland was a particular favourite! We were soon ready for our picnic - there are plenty of places to eat if you don't take a picnic - and found a great spot near the show area.
Lego souvenirs are readily available as you would expect and they do a great, little service where you can pick up whatever you buy during the day at the exit gates to save you carrying around a massive box of Lego bricks!
Tired and exhausted, I wish I could have fallen asleep in my car seat on my way home!
