There is some great free stuff happening all over the country this summer and we thought we would give you some pointers on where to look and what could be on offer where you live:
Look to the water. Liverpool is the European capital of culture this year and has a host of events happening across the city. Keep your eye out for events happening in the cities museums, art galleries and on the waterfront. Here’s a tip. The Tall Ships Race starts in Liverpool this year on 18 to 21 July. The ships will be based in some of the cities docks including Albert and Wellington.
Keep your eye out for free outdoor movie screenings in your city. For example there are free movies (as well as theatre & music) available at the More London Amphitheatre opposite the Tower of London.
Get outside and get a tan. Cities like Glasgow have a wealth of open spaces that tend to have plenty of free events or activities to do. A great example of this is Glasgow Green which has a specific events place in the centre.
Go inside to call down. Most of the UK’s museums are free and many offer free guided tours that help to waste a few hours. Try the Imperial War Museum North on Manchester’s Trafford Quay. This waterfront museum is open daily in the summer from 10:00 to 18:00.
Head to the beach: With so many beaches available in the UK we are spoilt for choice. Keep your eye out for when some of the UK’s big radio stations are doing their beach side radio broadcasts. A good example of this has been the Boardmasters festival in Newquay which was had some free beach events and dj sets.
We’ll be keeping you updated through our calendar and our unleash summer alerts on some free things that you can do this summer. For example we’ve been to both the Houses of Parliament and the Bank of England for free already!
