Let's be fair, I don't look much like an athelete, certainly not a Gladiator. In fact on my last visit to Thorpe Park the staff had to double check that I could fit in the rollercoaster restraints (not one of my finest moments). I thought that my sporting days were long gone, until someone mentioned Zorbing. Surely even I could do that!
Having decided against wearing a vest and tight shorts (I'm no wolf) I was unsure what to wear. Would I get wet, would I need to be able to run, would I need shoes? A quick phone call and we were assured that we needed to bring a change of clothes and be wearing socks. That didn't reassure me.
All my concerns were a waste of my time. The staff at the complex explained everything as soon as we arrived. It's definitely worth the extra clothes if you are planning on using the Aqua Ball.
Think about how good the best roller coaster you've been on was and then double it. This is one of the best things that I have ever done, period. We managed to get a camera inside as well, see the results below.
Here's a few tips for you to help make the most of your day:
- Get a few of your mates together and go at the same time, it's great fun seeing your friends going down as well.
- They are quite roomy inside, you have about as much space as in a small 2 man tent
- You have to wear socks if you doing the aqua ball
- You will get wet if you do the aqua ball, the water is actually inside the ball with you
- It takes them a little while to bring the balls back up to the top of the hill, so if there are a few of you taking part set aside a good few hours
Tickets for Zorbing are available at a choice of locations across the country including London and Dorset. At the moment 2 for 1 tickets are available in Dorset and London.
