Thoresby Hall is located in Thoresby Park, in Nottinghamshire near Ollerton. The stunning 18th century house simply takes your breath away. It was restored to its former glory of grade 1 listed building after much extensive work. Wonderfully restored parklands and grounds, including a Victorian rose garden, now surround it. The hotel is split into two parts, the old house and a newer building with further facilities. The two are connected very well and you hardly realise you are going from one to the other. You could be allocated a traditional room in the old house or a modern room in the new part of the hotel. We stayed in both rooms and I personally loved the ambience of the traditional room, I felt like a Queen!
The spa has a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, as well as gym with all the equipment you would need. There is also a spa pool where you can benefit from the hydro jets and the lovely bubbles. Surrounding this pool are 3 different steam rooms and finally the ice cave where you can cool down. This is great to invigorate your skin. You can also use the Rhassoul mud treatment room to exfoliate and cleanse your skin, leaving it feeling soft and silky. There are several treatment rooms available with helpful staff offering a range of different treatments, all the way from Reiki to Algae Wraps. There is also a relaxation room with a glass roof where you can have a snooze on a sun lounger or a waterbed and let the day go by.
The resort has lots to do after you have had a day full of pampering. There are a number of outdoor activities for you to do including archery, croquet, bowls, fencing and tennis. You can even hire a bike and explore the surroundings. There are 3 restaurants to eat at, Le Bistro which has table service from a wide set menu, Pierrepont which operates a buffet and the very formal Blue Room a la carte restaurant. After dinner there is entertainment every night where different comedians, cabaret singers and live bands perform.
Thoresby Hall has a mix of older people and younger people with something for everyone. It is such a huge place that you can make your own break and do as little or as much as you want.

I was so excited about going to Thoresby Hall. It was so dissapointing. We found out only when we arrived there was also a line dancing weekend which nobody informed us about. The place is packed full to rafters of OAP's it looks like Butlins bingo hall inside. We put right at the other end of the hotel which is a 10 minute walk to reception/ the spa or anywhere. They booked our treatments in at 10am - so it didn't give us the relaxing morning we expected. So we had to rush 10 mins back to the room then a further 10 mins to the spa, So we were late for our treatments and actually got told off. The staff are young teenagers who no nothing about customer service and don't try to make you stay welcoming at all. It's not their fault though. If you pay peanuts.....well you catch my drift. The management are soley to blame for this. The receptionist took us to the airing cupboard. She handed us our robes and slippers and explained she was to busy to put them in to our lockers. When I got to my locker I was greeted by a a ball of hair someone had left in there-LOVELY !!. We didn't have the nicest start in my opinion. The spa itself is nice, although tiny things let it down. Like finished cups of water everywhere. Beds with damp towels left on them - so you can't use them. A real shame...it could be lovely if the staff were up to scratch. The restaurant had a good menu and the food was nice. The staff there were pleasant and friendly. It was a shame the hotel let it down so much. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except old people who seem to love the place. I'd never go back it's awful.

I loved it there. Hardly any oldies and it was totally chilled when I went with my girlfriend. I think we went a bit OTT with the treatments, but the massages are lush. Bit annoyed that this is cheaper price than when I went, but maybe I'll jsut go again.
Huge place.

My partner and I are both in our 30's and we loved Thoresby Hall it was so traditionally english yet with all modern facilities, it is very large, but we felt this made for a better atmosphere. The spa was fabulous and the treatments out of this world. There are a number of pensioners there but they are the reasonably wealthy and when the live entertainment ends they all disapear to bed so when the live band and disco starts it's party time for us young ones and we bothered no-one. Breakfast was yummy and the varity vast. The Mediterranean bistro was out of this world, the food was just to die for. It also has many day activities too e.g. clay pigeon shooting, cycling, archery to name just 3(I was there to relax in the spa so I didn't mind missing out) but leaving a day free for such activities will be something I will consider on any future visits. I would recommend Thoresby Hall to any one of any age as there is something for everyone.
