Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa is a located in the rural countryside of Northamptonshire, a short ride away from Milton Keynes station.
The day spa is very spacious with a lot of room to relax and unwind. You are given a fluffy white robe and slippers to really get you in the mood for some serious pampering with their long list of Elemis and E’Spa products. There are a number of treatments you can choose and there is even a hair studio so you can feel like a totally new person.
The spa boasts wonderful heat and ice facilities where you move from steam room to steam room, raising your body temperature and then finally braving the ice cave where you feel really invigorated. This is great for circulation and also helps us with the battles of cellulite – every little helps in my case! Once you have tried that, you move on to the hydrotherapy pool and this is a real treat with lots of different jets to get rid of the tension in your muscles. It’s a bit like a giant Jacuzzi, which you will just not want to get out of!
We opted for the Rasul mud treatment where you start by rubbing a salt scrub over your skin and then rinsing it off, leaving your skin soft and ready for the mud. In the chamber you are given three different types of mud, one for your face, one your hair and one for your body. Once you are covered in the stuff you sit in the chamber and then the mud is left to work on your skin while the room gets filled with steam. After 15 minutes or so the showers above go into action to wash it all off. Your skin is left soft and smooth. We also had a very relaxing dry floatation, I was very curious about this as I was wondering how floatation could possibly be dry but our lovely therapist explained all. We lay down on a bed and the therapist rubbed a special salt scrub onto our skin and then wrapped us in a towel. The bed then fills up with water and you are raised up and left to float on what feels like the sea. It was like being on the water without getting wet! I was left to float for about half an hour and actually fell asleep it was so relaxing.
You can relax on the patio outdoors if you wish to get some fresh air between treatments. The lovely surroundings are so peaceful. Also if you get peckish the spa serves a light lunch to give you the energy for all the hard work of being pampered.
The hotel is 4 star rated with very comfortable rooms. Each room has Molton Brown toiletries and even internet access. The hotel has two dining rooms and the choice of food is very wide.
All in all this is a really good hotel with a very nice day spa, it is only a short distance away from London, but far enough to feel like you are getting away from it all.
