Lee told us he was thrilled to receive the award as it's his first real award. He said:
"I just want to say thank you really to everyone who voted for me. It's just a surprise to win! It's really nice to be appreciated for what you're doing. I wouldn't say that awards drive me, but it's so nice to be appreciated for what you do. It's going right here in my dressing room (places it down)...next to my rear of the year award. Thank you all who voted, its cool...my mum started crying when I told her, she was really happy for me."

Favourite Musical
Wicked
We asked Kerry Ellis who plays Elphaba what sets Wicked apart from other musicals:
"It has everything, most musicals have a main area that they have done really well but Wicked is a good all rounder. It's got the music, costumes, the set and the story. The story has so many hidden messages that keep you interested.
People can identify with the friendships in the story; it appeals to everyone and keeps them coming back. One of our fans has been to see the show 35 times."
Michael McCabe, Executive Producer sent his thanks to the people:
"On behalf of everyone involved in WICKED, I'd like to thank all the lastminute.com customers who have voted for WICKED and to offer my personal congratulations to our incredible London cast led by Kerry Ellis and Dianne Pilkington. It is very exciting that WICKED has been honoured by the theatregoing public whose support of, and reaction to, the show has been so fantastic from the outset. We are thrilled to have won both 'Favourite Musical' and 'Favourite Theatre Moment' of 2007 and delighted that the Apollo Victoria Theatre has also been named 'Favourite Venue'."

Connie does deserve the award though she works hard just the same as Kerry does!
So well done Connie!!

Connie does not deserve the award what a load of rubbish
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 08:08 PM
This is the funniest thing I have ever seen! Do you all know how stupid you look. Im sure that kerry is over the fact that she didn't win. this is hardley the olivier's! And just to add fuel to the fire, I think you are all forgetting the queen of the west end, Laura michelle kelly. At least she is a credible performer who has a real award to her name!!
Posted by: laughingatyouall | 15/10/2007 at 10:19 PM
A bit of perspective here guys. There are people in the nhs who save peoples lives everyday for shit pay and very little reward. All these performers are given gifts, standing ovations and have people constantly telling them how wonderfull they are. Im not saying that they do not not deserve that, but is there any need to argue over who needs the most praise?? You think its disgusting that one talented actress won over another talented actress?, get over yourselves and step back into the real world!

"And just to add fuel to the fire, I think you are all forgetting the queen of the west end, Laura michelle kelly. At least she is a credible performer who has a real award to her name"
What is that supposed to mean, that Kerry is not a credible performer??? My arse!!!!
Kerry wipes the floor with the rest of them, end of!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:17 PM
Lee Mead rocks but I was a little sad not to see Kerry win the award!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:18 PM
Kerry Ellis is a legend!!!
Connie Fisher is not!!!
She was bang out of tune at the Dianna gig and as i recall outshore by a 10 year old!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:19 PM
Kerry is the best
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:19 PM
Laura michelle kelly is a great actress too agree! they are all good actresses end of!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:26 PM
Nope, I think kerry is a ver credible performer and no one can play elphaba like her. I personally voted for her and in my opinion think she should have won. However I do not think it is appropriate to talk about connie like that. She probably reads this, and if you got that annoyed that I hinted that kerry may not be a credible performer, imagine how she she feels reading some of these comments. Does it make you feel good to put someone down like that? Kerry is one of the nicest people and she certainly would not advocate anyone of her fans talking about another actress like that.

What an excellent post!!! I am a massive Kerry fan and voted for her and I would have loved to see her win as she does her arse off and put everything into her performance. However having met her she is a lovely lady and I am quite convinced she would be mortified by some of the comments on here that cannot possibly be from real fans. Real Kerry fans would not do that, yes post your support for her but am sure Kerry has every respect for other artists in the west end and therefore so should you guys calling yourslef fans. At end of day it is hardly Connie's fault she won.
Anyways just wanted to say I think Kerry is absolutely brilliant and she has lit up the west end with her portrayal of Elphie!!!
Credit and support yes, insults a big no!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:38 PM
lmao - that was meant to say does work her arse off!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:39 PM
People starting to be rational at last!!!
Kerry is an amazing performeram sure she knows how much she is loved regardless of the reward!!!
I love Wicked so well done for winning!!!
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:50 PM
Well Done Lee from the Meadettes!!! That award is as well deserved as your Rear of the Year!!!
xxxx
Posted by: | 15/10/2007 at 11:53 PM
Poor Kerry not winning the award, she desevred ithugely but well done Connie
Posted by: | 16/10/2007 at 01:24 PM
I think some people's postings on this thread are utterly disgraceful! Whether you like her or not, Connie Fisher is a very talented performer, and just slagging her (or anyone else) off for the sake of it, says far more about the one who does that, than it does about the victim! There is no justification for any of it!
And just for the record, I voted for Kerry Ellis too, along with Lee Mead. I think she is great in Wicked and I think he is just amazing! But that would never mean that I have to suppose that anyone else has to be rubbish in comparison! I most certainly didn't vote for Daniel Radcliffe, but that doesn't mean that I would hold him to blame because my choice didn't win! It is past time some people here grew up, except that I would expect better of a child! The meanspiritedness demonstrated here is just plain nasty!

All nominated deserve praise. Bashing one performer does not raise the other up. I agree it would embarrass the nominees to see this catfighting. It is just one small award. There are others. If your candidate didn't make it, find another and vote this time. Can't wait for the Olivier Awards to settle this once and for all.
Congrats all! Especially Dan and Wicked!

Congratulations to ALL the winners, especially Connie & Lee, thoroughly deserved. 100% professionally trained, even if they did come from a tv background!
There are a number of immenseley talented actors/actresses in the West End, who all work very hard in what is a very competitive and sometimes harsh world, well done to all of them.
